This is a cool little radio.I have had the oppertunity to try it on my base rig and as my mobile and it works just fine. The rubber duck antenna is good for about a mile or so but I use a cobra HG A 1500 mag mount on my car a 98 Rav4. Out on the Hwy I get 3-5 miles in all directions so with that in mind I give this radio 5 out of 5 stars.
I didn't want to permantely mount my full size CB in my new Nissan Altima yet as I still can't find a good spot to mount it. So for an upcoming trip to Wisconsin I purchased my first portable hand held unit. With the standard Rubber Duck antenna the reception inside the car is pretty bad, but using a Cobra conversion adapter I've connected my Wilson 1000 mag mount to the portable and reception and transmission is almost as good as my Ranger full size unit.
Cobra HH 38 WX ST Handheld CB Radio This radio as received has about 1/4 mile receive and transmit range. You need two I repeat two ac plugs. One to run and one to charge.
I was very disappointed with this handheld. I bought this specifically for a move across country, the reception and transmission were very poor even with an antenna. Possibly, this may work for a kids toy, but if you are interested in communication avoid this unit.
I GET UP TO 4MILES ON THIS CB. THIS IS A GREAT HANDHELD CB. COBRA IS THE BEST IN CB RADIO. ALSO GET THE 1500 MAGNET ANTENNA WITH THIS. I OWN A CLASSIC 29 LTD BY COBRA IN MY TRUCK BUT THIS HANDHELD IS GREAT FOR YOUR PERSONAL VEHICLE.
